The year's final tennis Grand Slam is here, and the 2022 U.S. Open, starting Monday at Flushing Meadows, will be the final bow for Serena Williams. The 23-time major champion has struggled since returning from a nearly year-long absence, but she wants to go out on her terms at a tournament she has won six times. Her absence has fueled a free-for-all atop the women's game, and the title should be up for grabs. There have been six different champions over the past seven Grand Slam events, and the only one to win twice -- Ashleigh Barty -- retired in March.
French Open champion Iga Swiatek is the +350 favorite in the latest 2022 U.S. Open women's singles odds at Caesars Sportsbook. Simona Halep is the second choice at +750, followed by American Coco Gauff (+1400). Aryna Sabalenka, a semifinalist last year, is priced at +1600, and reigning U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu is +2000. Naomi Osaka (+2000) also is among the favorites in the U.S. Open 2022 draw, while Williams is a 50-1 long shot.
Before you make any women's tennis picks on the 2022 U.S. Open, you need to see who tennis expert Jose Onorato is backing.
Onorato grew up playing competitive tennis in Caracas, Venezuela. After coming to the U.S., he trained with famed coach Nick Bollettieri at IMG Academy in Florida and faced players like Robert Farah, now one of the world's top-ranked doubles players.
Onorato, who holds dual degrees in finance and economics from the University of Miami, does extensive research before placing any tennis bet. He studies current form, players' tendencies on a particular surface, weather conditions and many other relevant factors. That systematic approach helped Onorato go 69-46 -- up 54.98 units -- from January through July.
Now, Onorato has scrutinized the draw and latest 2022 U.S. Open women's odds and released his coveted best bets to win it all. We can tell you he's fading Swiatek, even though she is the only active player to win more than one major since the start of 2020. This field is truly wide open, and the Polish world No. 1 was ousted in the third round on the hard courts in Toronto and Cincinnati.
Instead, Onorato is backing a longer shot who comes in at odds of more than 20-1! This player has been trending in the right direction -- and mowing down top-10 players -- so she could pull off a stunning result that would cash in HUGE. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who this player is before locking in any 2022 U.S. Open picks of your own!
