The roars return to TPC Sawgrass when the 2022 Players Championship tees off on Thursday, March 10. The 2022 Players Championship field is one of the strongest of the season, featuring 48 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking. Justin Thomas is the defending champion and will look to become the first player to ever win the Players Championship in back-to-back years.
Caesars Sportsbook lists Thomas, Jon Rahm and Collin Morikawa as the 14-1 co-favorites in the latest 2022 Players Championship odds. They are followed by Rory McIlroy (18-1), Viktor Hovland (20-1), Patrick Cantlay (25-1) and Scottie Scheffler (25-1) on the PGA odds board.
If picking an outright winner doesn't intrigue you, betting if a player will finish inside the top-10 may be the way to go. Golf prop bets are growing in popularity because they allow fans to follow the action throughout the weekend.
SportsLine's Mike McClure has analyzed the field and used his proven golf model to simulate the 2022 Players Championship 10,000 times, and there are some MAJOR surprises.
SportsLine's proprietary golf model, built by McClure, has been RED-HOT since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up almost $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.
At the 2021 Open Championship, McClure's best bets included Collin Morikawa winning outright even though he was listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. In addition, McClure's model was all over Jon Rahm's (10-1) first career major championship victory at the 2021 U.S. Open. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the weekend, but the model still projected him as the winner.
This same model has also nailed a whopping seven majors entering the weekend! Anyone who has followed it has seen MASSIVE returns!
Now, McClure has set his sights on the 2022 Players Championship and just revealed his top prop bets. They're a must-see for any player looking for an edge in their Players Championship golf betting strategy.
We can tell you that McClure is high on Patrick Cantlay to finish inside the top five at +490 odds. Cantlay has finished inside the top-five in two of his three starts on the PGA Tour this season, which includes a runner-up showing at the WM Phoenix Open in February. He's been able to secure those positive results thanks to his sensational putting stroke. The 29-year-old enters this week's event ranked second in putting average (1.651), fourth in overall putting average (1.528) and sixth in total putting (94.1).
McClure has also locked in a slew of other prop bets for the 2022 Players Championship, including a 70-1 long shot he thinks can win it all. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who it is before locking in any picks of your own.
