The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday in the preseason opener for both teams. They are teams in transition as both try to replace Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks. Seattle traded Russell Wilson to the Broncos in the offseason, while Pittsburgh icon Ben Roethlisberger retired after 18 seasons. Pittsburgh (9-7-1) finished second in the AFC North last season, losing in a Wild-Card matchup to Kansas City, while Seattle (7-10) missed the playoffs.
Kickoff at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh is set for 7 p.m. ET. Pittsburgh is a 1.5-point favorite in the latest Seahawks vs. Steelers odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total points scored is 37.5.
Before you make any Steelers vs. Seahawks picks of your own, you NEED to hear what NFL expert R.J. White has to say.
Over the past seven years White, a CBS Sports fantasy and gambling editor, has gone 329-250-21 (56.8 percent) in the world's most prestigious football handicapping competition, the Las Vegas SuperContest. He also is SportsLine's No. 1 NFL expert, going 445-378-24 on his against-the-spread NFL picks from 2017-21, returning $2,542 to $100 players.
In addition, White has gone 53-29-4 on his last 86 picks involving the Steelers, returning almost $2,100 for $100 bettors. Anyone who has followed him is WAY UP!
White knows the Steelers have heavy competition at several key positions. Mitchell Trubisky is expected to start at quarterback Saturday, but rookie Kenny Pickett, veteran Mason Rudolph, and Chris Oladokun all could see time. Pittsburgh also is loaded with talented receivers, and the likes of second-round pick George Pickens and former Bears second-rounder Anthony Miller have impressed in camp.
The expert also knows Seattle has dealt with injury issues in camp, but has plenty of players hungry to earn roster spots. Geno Smith is set to start at QB, but Drew Lock has cut down on mistakes this preseason and is trying to seize the top job. At running back, DeeJay Dallas and second-round pick Kenneth Walker III, the Doak Walker Award winner last season for Michigan State, could make a splash.
Now, White has locked in another confident pick against the spread pick for Steelers vs. Seahawks. We can tell you he's leaning Over the total, but he knows a crucial X-factor makes one side of the spread a MUST-BACK! You ABSOLUTELY need to see what it is before locking in any picks of your own.
So who wins Seahawks vs. Steelers? And what critical x-factor makes one side of the spread hit HARD? Join SportsLine now to find out, all from SportsLine's top NFL expert who is a sizzling 53-29-4 on his recent Pittsburgh picks.
