The sixth-seeded Texas Longhorns hope to end their streak of first-round losses when they face the No. 11 seed Virginia Tech Hokies in their East Region opening game of the 2022 NCAA Tournament at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on Friday. Texas (21-11) was upset by Abilene Christian 53-52 last year, marking the third straight Tournament appearance in which it was eliminated in the first round. Virginia Tech (23-12) reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2019 but was knocked out early last season as it dropped a 75-70 overtime decision to Florida in the opening round.
