Today's picks: Why to take over total in Angels-Yankees plus other MLB and La Liga soccer picks for Monday, August 16

The Coach highlights the SportsLine Play of the Day from La Liga, backing the pick of both Villareal and Granada to score at -105 at 2 p.m. ET. 

Coming off a 2-0 day, Justin has a pair of featured plays on a busy MLB slate. He is taking the Angels and Yankees Over 8.5 runs at 7:05 p.m. ET. "I really like the over here because Gerrit Cole is coming back and we've seen that he hasn't been all that immaculate," he says. "He just had a pretty bad bout with COVID and we don't know how long he is going to pitch. Both teams have just used up their bullpens and the Angels just traveled from Los Angeles yesterday. This is a weird makeup game and I expect a lot of runs to be scored." He also goes back to picking on the Orioles, as their bullpen is downright awful. He is all in on Tampa Bay -1.5 over Baltimore at 7:10 p.m. ET. 

Zack is very impressed with how the Braves have taken over the lead in the National League East, and is going with Atlanta -157 over Miami at 7:10 p.m. ET. Even though the Marlins are on a small winning streak, this is the kind of game that the Braves need to win at this important time of the season. 

Larry has two picks in A's-White Sox at 8:10 p.m. ET. He is going with the A's at -150 in the first five innings, as Frankie Montas has been superb recently. He is also looking for Dallas Keuchel to go Under 4.5 strikeouts, as Oakland has a low strikeout rate and fares well vs. lefties. Larry is also on the Rockies +110 in the first five innings over the Padres at 8:40 p.m. ET. It looks like the shine is off San Diego pitcher Ryan Weathers after he started the season so well.
