Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Mike McClure, Allan Bell, Matthew Severance, Justin Perri and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get the prime plays for college football, Major League Baseball and soccer for Thursday, September 2.

The Coach updates on some can't-miss programming, including several NFL futures shows, a college football preview and golf and MMA episodes. Matt considers the chances of Iowa State's Brock Purdy to make history for the Cyclones and win the Heisman Trophy.

Three SportsLine Plays of the Day are then highlighted, including the U.S.A. -200 over El Salvador in the World Cup qualifier at 10:05 p.m. ET. The Coach also features England to win and score two-plus goals at -125 over Hungary at 2:45 p.m. ET and Belgium to win and score four-plus goals at -125 at 2:45 p.m. ET.

Mike leads off the College Football picks, taking Appalachian State -10 over East Carolina at 7:30 p.m. ET. "This team returns 10 starters on the defensive side of the ball, 18 overall," he says. "They were a top-20 defense last season. On offense, they have quarterback Chase Brice. They're also welcoming back Corey Sutton. He's a legit NFL prospect. He's someone who I think will have a big breakout year, especially with Brice throwing him the football."

Allan is going with Bowling Green and Tennessee to go under 60.5 points at 8 p.m. ET. Bowling Green is bad enough, but Tennessee is also undergoing a significant adjustment period in many key areas.

Justin's top MLB play is the Red Sox and Rays over 7.5 runs at 7:10 p.m. ET. These American League. East rivals have been slugging it out in all of their recent matchups.

Matt is taking East Carolina and Appalachian State to go over 55.5 points. The Mountaineers are loaded on offense, and East Carolina is bad defensively, but can fare well enough on the other side of the ball. Matt is also on Kansas State -2.5 over Stanford on Saturday at noon ET. Stanford has issues to deal with at QB, WR and DB while the Wildcats have an underrated QB ready to shine again.

Larry is recommending the Indians over 3.5 runs vs. the Royals at 8:10 p.m. ET. Cleveland seems to beat up on Mike Minor whenever he matches up with the Indians.
