The Tennessee Volunteers came close last week against the number one team in the country in Texas, losing 20 to 17. I expect a fast start for the Volunteers in another home game, but look for Auburn to be able to find answers as they adapt to their first true road game of the season. Value play on an Auburn team that has lost seven straight games on the road against ranked SEC points by an average margin of 15 points.
Auburn has beaten Tennessee four of the last five meetings, and the last meeting was in 2020. I was impressed with the Tennessee 20-17 loss to Texas last week. Mostly, it was the run defense that shined and caught my attention. They allowed Texas only 61 yards on 36 carries. Texas has one of the best offensive lines in college football. Tennessee didn't turn the ball over while Texas did twice. In back-to-back games, I don't see Tennessee losing twice. Tennessee to cover.
