Best rivalry in college football with the Victory Cannon on the line, but I might be a tad biased. Can't say I ever recall seeing a cannon but probably wasn't super focused by that point of the game back in my college days. I was waiting on a few late CMU injury notes regarding RB Myles Bailey and WR Tyson Davis and it appears both will play. A WMU win by 3 is an ideal night.
Central Michigan running back Marion Lukes broke off 202 yards last week against what was a hot Northern Illinois defense, which is a great sign for the Chippewas as they head down the home stretch. The Western Michigan rush defense is no slouch either, which suggests that this one will be a rock fight. That lends itself to the underdog, so take the Chips.
Not sure CMU should be getting any points here, especially noting that the road dog has won outright the last three and covered the last four meetings in this directional Michigan MAC rivalry. Jim McElwain's troops usually finish fast and the 37-31 win over NIU last Tuesday might signal another late-season surge, with RB Marion Lukes the hottest runner in the loop after banging for 202 YR vs. the Huskies. Play Central Michigan
Central Michigan has three games remaining, but their best shot at bowl eligibility may be tonight at Western Michigan. Both defenses have their issues and Central Michigan is certainly the lesser of the two defensive groups, but it's the CMU offense that I'm focused upon tonight. Quarterback Jase Bauer and Running Back Marion Lukes should move the ball consistently through the ground game. I'm not expecting quite as much offensive efficiency from the WMU rushing attack (which is admittedly very formidable). We've got a live dog here, but I'll take the points.
