This is as interesting a game as we could get between two quality Big Ten teams that enter 2021 with plenty of questions following underwhelming efforts last season. Camp Randall Stadium is going to be an incredible atmosphere, but Penn State is used to playing in tough venues. While the Badgers dominate most opponents in the trenches, the Nittany Lions' deep offensive line should be able to combat them and allow Sean Clifford opportunities to thrive under new offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. On the other side, Graham Mertz regressed as last season went on, and Penn State's secondary is formidable. There's a chance PSU wins outright, but I love getting nearly a touchdown.
I look for Penn State to carry momentum from winning its last four games after a rough start to 2020. Mostly, I don’t trust Badgers sophomore QB Graham Mertz, who threw five TDs in the 2020 opener against Illinois, but then threw just four TDs to five interceptions in the final six games as Wisconsin went 3-3. I look for both defenses to shine. Take Penn State plus the too many points.
