The Blue Devils, who have been lambasted all season for their inability to guard, have tightened the clamps, resulting in five consecutive Unders by an average of 24 points. Yes, 24! This series is inclined to generate shootouts, but this total means the winner must climb into the 80s and the other probably must keep pace. This is a chance against the high-flying Tar Heels for Duke to prove its upgraded defense is built to last.

This would normally be way too many points to lay in a rivalry game, but I'd be stunned if Duke didn't play one of its best games of the season Saturday in its rematch with North Carolina. The Blue Devils are in something of a double-redemption spot, following a 64-63 loss at Virginia Tech in which they controlled most of the game only to lose on a putback at the buzzer. They are also looking to redeem an 82-78 loss at UNC in the first meeting in which they squandered a double-figure lead and showed an uncharacteristic lack of poise down the stretch.
