Highest RTP online slots in the US and the ones that pay above 97 percent

Find out which online slots offer the best RTP at licensed U.S. casino apps, plus where to play them. Also, see why volatility is a huge factor when choosing high-paying slot games.

If you're focused on winning a larger percentage of every dollar back, the highest RTP slots are the obvious place to begin. Criteria I look for are simple: slots with over 97 percent RTP, a legit provider behind them, and availability at casino apps licensed in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia. It's also important to know where to play each of the best-paying slots in mid-October. Use bonus code SPORTSLINECAS to get up to 1,000 bonus spins and more at BetMGM Casino:

Below, you can see several online slots with better than 97 percent RTP and availability in at least one regulated online gambling state. I've also listed the licensed casino sites where you can play these games.

BetMGM offers two of the highest-paying slot games on the U.S. regulated scene, including Book of 99 and Marching Legions (98.12% RTP). Both from Relax Gaming, the highly volatile Marching Legions has a 10,000x max win, while Book of 99 features mid-to-high volatility and a 5,000x max payout.

I recommend BetMGM if you're most concerned with getting the best RTP possible. My only complaint is that this casino could provide more filters to sort high-paying games from its 4,000+ other titles.

Nevertheless, BetMGM ranks No. 1 in our best online casino rankings for multiple reasons, including its impressive RTP. Enter promo code SPORTSLINECAS to get up to 1,000 bonus spins and more when you sign up at BetMGM Casino:

If you're willing to enter special modes and make side bets, bet365 has some incredibly high-paying slot titles. It features two Barcrest games, including Golden Chief and Dr Jekyll Goes Wild, which offer 98.14% and 98.11% RTP, respectively.

The catch is that you must activate Big Bet mode to achieve these payout percentages. The Big Bet costs $20 for five spins and unlocks special modifiers. If you're fine with higher volatility in what are essentially mini bonus buys, then the payout percentages are worth the extra cost.

This highest RTP slot guide covers two dozen games with impressive payback at bet365 and other online casinos. Get a 100% deposit match up to $1,000 and 1,000 bonus spins at bet365 Casino today:

Available in NJ and PA, betPARX Casino has certain titles that combine low volatility with high payout percentages. First, the NetEnt classic Blood Suckers features 98% RTP and a 45% win rate. Steam Tower, another NetEnt game, is also a safer choice with its 97.04% payback and 2,000x max win.

The downside to betPARX is that it doesn't have some of the industry's top-payers, like Marching Legions and Dr Jekyll Goes Wild. But again, some of its games offer a less bumpy road toward good payback. The betPARX Casino promo code makes this operator a great choice for first-time players. Use bonus code SLINESCAS to get 250 bonus spins and up to $500 back in lossback credits:

Maybe you're not ready to play the best RTP slots for real money or even go through the sign-up process. If so, check out DraftKings because it lets you play demos of Codex of Fortune, Golden Chief, and Medusa II (97.07% RTP) without registering.

Some high payback games like Blood Suckers don't have demos here. Even so, DraftKings has enough demos to make it the perfect spot for testing certain slots covered here. Get 1,000 Flex Spins when you sign up at DraftKings Casino:

The Caesars Palace Casino promo code SLINELAUNCH qualifies you for a $10 sign-up credit. This lets you play real money slots without risking your own funds.

The main catch is that most high-payers are excluded from the no-deposit bonus, such as Medusa Megaways (97.63% RTP). However, IGT's Texas Tea (97.35% payback) does qualify for the offer. That said, you can play a game with over 97 percent RTP using no-deposit funds. Enter bonus code SLINELAUNCH and get the Caesars Palace welcome offer today:

A high-paying slot isn't an automatic recipe for more short-term winnings. Return to player is a long-term figure that typically accounts for millions of spins, not just a session or two.

Some of the highest RTP slots are also among the more volatile, like Marching Legions and Codex of Fortune (both 10,000x max wins). Therefore, you may experience rough losing sessions even on the top payback games.

If you're worried about swingy sessions, try low volatility slot machines with more consistent payout profiles.

You might even consider stepping outside slots for even lower volatility. Some casino games with best odds include blackjack, craps, and roulette, which can provide high RTP and less volatile pay under the right conditions.

My top high-RTP recommendation for this month is BetMGM Casino because it has two extremely high-paying games.

With 99% payback, Book of 99 has better RTP than any other slot at licensed casino apps. Marching Legions technically ranks third behind Golden Chief with 98.12%, although one could argue it's #2 because no special bets are required.
