This price is far less than ideal, but I am much more confident in this puck line than I am in either side of the moneyline. Nathan MacKinnon has been the best player in the NHL this season, and I expect him to have the Avs dialed in. I expect this game to be tight and stay within one goal until the end.
Can't say I love the idea of fading the high-powered Avs, but they are likely down two pretty key guys in forward Jonathan Drouin (56 points and is out) and blueliner Samuel Girard (game-time call). But really this is all about the goaltending. Winnipeg should have a massive edge with likely Vezina winner Connor Hellebuyck over a struggling Alexandar Georgiev. Over the last six games, Georgiev has allowed six goals twice and four goals three times (including once vs. the Jets). He was yanked from two games.
Playoff hockey games tend to be lower scoring than regular season games, but I expect to see plenty of offensive fireworks in this one. The Avs led the NHL at 3.68 goals per game and have the best first line in the league. The Jets are elite defensively, and goalie Connor Hellebuyck is going to win the Vezina. I expect Colorado to light the lamp at least there times, but what makes me love the over here is the fact that Avs goalie Alexandar Georgiev has been struggling mightily as of late.
Winnipeg securing home ice over Colorado could prove to be the difference, as the Avs are 31-10 at home and just 19-22 on the road. The Jets just beat Colorado 7-0 last week and are heading into the postseason on an eight-game winning streak. They've beaten the Avs in all three games this season, and goalie Connor Hellebuyck has the potential to carry this Winnipeg team far. I like them to nab the first game on Sunday.
