Bills vs. Bengals Monday NFL odds, trends: Bettors split on spread, big on touchdowns for Tee Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase in historic matchup

Buffalo visits Cincinnati for a huge AFC matchup tonight to conclude Week 17.

The final Monday night game of the 2022-23 NFL regular season is the best matchup of them all, as the AFC East champion Buffalo Bills carry a six-game winning streak into Cincinnati, with the Bengals having won seven in a row and able to clinch the AFC North. Buffalo is -1.5 at BetMGM with bettors split on the spread but backing Cincy wideouts Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase to find the end zone.

The matchup will mark only the third game in Monday Night Football history to feature two teams with at least 11 wins each. It's also the only game since 1978 – when the 16-game schedule was instituted – to feature teams each on winning streaks of six or more games in the final two weeks of a season. The teams have combined for 23 wins overall, tied for the most ever entering a Monday Night Football matchup. The other instance came in 1997 when Steve Young's 49ers defeated John Elway's Broncos 34-17.

Josh Allen (32) and Joe Burrow (34) have the most combined passing touchdowns (66) by any opposing quarterbacks entering a Monday Night Football game ever. This is their first-ever matchup. Allen and Burrow both have 68 passing TDs since the start of last season. Only MVP favorite Patrick Mahomes has more with 77.

The Bills opened at -1 at BetMGM and are taking 45% of the bets but 52% of the money. Since a Week 7 bye, Buffalo is 2-6-1 ATS. Burrow is an amazing 19-3 ATS in last 22 starts and has covered seven straight, the longest active streak in the NFL. The total of 49.5 hasn't moved with 77% of the bets and 80% of the money on the over. Cincinnati, priced at +100 on the moneyline, is taking 62% of the bets and 53% of the money.

Buffalo (12-3) is currently a half-game behind Kansas City (13-3) atop the AFC, but the Bills will be the conference's top seed and get the only bye should they win here and then again on Sunday at home vs. the Patriots – who would get a wild card berth with an upset. Cincinnati (11-4) has a 1.5-game lead over Baltimore and would take the division with a victory tonight. Those two teams meet Sunday in Cincinnati. If the Bengals lose here, they would need to beat or tie the Ravens in Week 18 to clinch the division and the No. 3 seed.

Earning the AFC's top seed is unlikely for Cincinnati, as it would have to win out and have the Raiders beat the Chiefs on Saturday – and Kansas City is nearly a double-digit favorite. At DraftKings, K.C. is -105 to earn the top seed with Buffalo +110 and Cincinnati +1000.

The two-most wagered player props at BetMGM as of this writing are on Higgins to score the game's first TD at +1000 and Chase for an anytime TD at +100. Higgins has seven TDs in 15 games and Chase has eight in 11. The third-most wagered prop is Allen Over 1.5 passing TDs at -140. He has 32 on the season.
