The Yankees have the better starting pitcher in Nestor Cortes over Ryan Yarbrough, but New York's lineup is garbage other than Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres -- Aaron Hicks was just scratched (not that he's doing much offensively). The Yanks' bullpen is also a mess due to injury; their best healthy reliever, Clay Holmes, has pitched the past two nights so he might not be available. We'll take Tampa at -160 on the RL. That seem relatively cheap considering the Rays aren't that big of ML underdogs.
The Rays have lost each of Ryan Yarbrough's last three starts. He is currently sitting at a 4.2 ERA and that should only increase in this game. On the other side, Yankees starter Nestor Cortes has been one of the best starters in this young season. The Yankees bounced back in their last two games after their first three game losing streak of the season. Expect them to put up a lot of runs in this game and to take this game on the road.
The Rays got two key players back yesterday to face lefties in Manuel Margot and Yandy Diaz, and they should help a lot against Nestor Cortes Jr. Cortes Jr. has been pitching very well but we did see some regression from him last game. The Yankees bullpen is also a bit worked with a few key injuries. Ryan Yarbrough has actually been pitching a lot better lately. He won’t go deep in the game, but the Rays whole bullpen is available and rested. This is the first matchup between these teams this season, but the Rays are 22-11 against the Yankees over the past two seasons including 11-8 last season. Giancarlo Stanton will be out of the lineup again, and DJ Lemahieu and Josh Donaldson aren't starting either. That’s a lot of right-handed bats lost against the lefty. Take the Rays at home at plus money.
