Good 2-0 start today and it looks like a third earlier game we picked, Reds-Guardians, may be rained out (yep, just was). We won on Kansas City in Game 2 of a doubleheader vs. the White Sox yesterday, but Chicago had a watered-down lineup then and a first-time pitcher. The Sox have perhaps their best possible lineup here (at least until Eloy Jimenez is back) and ace Lucas Giolito on the mound. He has allowed three runs or less in all five starts this season, including one or less three times, and is 5-1 with a 2.74 ERA and .204 opponents' average in 10 career starts at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals are without All-Star catcher Salvy Perez, who landed on the IL. Michael Taylor (3-for-9 with RBI and run in series) was scratched for an undisclosed reason. That weakens the KC outfield defense.
Both Lucas Giolito and Zack Greinke have been pitching well this season. Greinke is coming off his worst start of the season, but that was at Coors Field. He will be home for this start where he has been much better. Lucas Giolito has pitched well this season but he actually struggled against the Royals last season. I think this game is much closer to 50-50, I like the value in the home dog.
