Today's sports betting picks: Why Wisconsin will cruise past Washington State, plus more college football, MLB and soccer best bets for Saturday
The SportsLine crew shares its expert bets for Saturday, Sept. 10 on The Early Edge podcast
Host Allan Bell is joined by sports betting experts Micah Roberts and Jon 'Buckets' Eimer on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for college football, MLB and MLS for Saturday, Sept. 10 and a Sunday NFL matchup.
After breaking down the storylines and Micah giving a rundown of Sunday's NASCAR race in Kansas, Allan offers up the SportsLine Play of the Day. It's an MLB pick from Braves vs. Mariners (9:10 p.m. ET), and the play is Atlanta Over 3.5 Team Total (-120). The Braves have scored at least four runs in four of their past five games.
Micah has two picks, and the first is from college footballl. He likes the Badgers -17 in Wisconsin vs. Washington State (3:30 p.m. ET). Micah mostly is fading the Cougars, who beat Idaho last weekend but didn't impress as big favorites. "I think this is a huge step up for them to try to do anything at Wisconsin," Roberts says. The expert expects Braelon Allen to be a strong Heisman contender this season and sees him breaking loose Saturday.
Roberts also has an NFL pick for Sunday, taking Washington -2.5 in the Commanders vs. Jaguars matchup (1 p.m. ET). Micah doesn't understand the criticism of Washington QB Carson Wentz, who had 27 TD passes and seven interceptions last season with the Colts. "That's pretty good," Roberts says. "And now he is coming to a team that has wide receivers? He didn't really have a lot to work with there in Indianapolis and still got the job done."
Buckets has been digging for value on soccer picks, and he found plenty in MLS. The soccer guru is going Over 2.5 goals (-115) in the Charlotte FC vs. NYCFC match (1 p.m. ET). "These are two teams that do what all teams in MLS love to do, and that is score A LOT of goals," Eimer says. He loves this play at "some really good odds, honestly."Â
He also is taking Nashville SC Over 1.5 Team Total (-150) against the L.A. Galaxy (3:30 p.m. ET). "This team is WILD right now," Buckets says of Nashville. They have scored 14 goals in their past four matches, and Hany Mukhtar leads the MLS with 21 goals, so they could cover this by themselves.
Eimer's final MLS play is Both Teams to Score (-160) in FC Dallas vs. LAFC (8:30 p.m. ET). Dallas have scored in 12 straight games, and L.A. have gotten on the board in nine of their past 10, so this one is worth a little juice.
Allan finishes up with a college football AB3, first taking Wake Forest -13 against Vanderbilt (Noon ET). Vandy has looked pretty good against some bad teams, Bell says, but it will be a different story Saturday against the Demon Deacons.
The host also is backing Over 40 in Iowa vs. Iowa State (4 p.m. ET) and Central Michigan -6 at home against South Alabama (1 p.m. ET). Â
