World class horse racing takes place at Santa Anita Park outside Los Angeles, and on Sunday the Pick 6 features a mandatory payout and a pool expected to approach $3 million. Last year he was red-hot in the Triple Crown prep races, hitting the superfecta in the Blue Grass Stakes for $1,678 and exactas in the Fountain of Youth Stakes and Tampa Bay Derby. He also hit the 19-1 winner of the Man o' War Stakes, the trifecta in the Pegasus World Cup, the superfecta in the Met Mile and multiple Pick 4s.
In April of this year, he hit a Pick 4 at Gulfstream Park for $641, the exacta in the Florida Derby, a Pick 5 at Keeneland and the exacta in the Lexington Stakes. Last week he smashed the trifecta in the Belmont Stakes for $532.96, and on Saturday he hit the late Pick 4 at Belmont Park. Those are just some of his scores this year.
For Sunday, Weir has handicapped the mandatory-payout Pick 6 at Santa Anita, made his picks and constructed his tickets.
We can tell you that Weir is high on Flying Drummer, the 5-2 favorite in Race 10, the fourth leg of the Pick 6. "He missed all of 2022, but his return in May showed he's improved from his 2-year-old campaign and could be another good one for trainer Bob Baffert," Weir told SportsLine. Flying Drummer is Weir's top pick in Race 10 and the only horse from the race on his Pick 6 tickets.
