How a team's running back committee shakes out can make or break the Fantasy value of certain players. Knowing who you can trust can give you a massive edge in your league.
Before you make any kind of roster move involving a running back who is splitting carries this season, you'll want to see SportsLine Fantasy analyst Matt Franciscovich's breakdown of some of the most fluid running back committees. Franciscovich, a former Fantasy football analyst for NFL Network, is a content strategist and writer for EA Sports/Madden NFL competitive esports.
One thing we can tell you heading into Week 2: Franciscovich is high on Browns running back Carlos Hyde going forward because of how he was used in Cleveland's tie against Pittsburgh.
"The real takeaway is Hyde's usage in what was a closely contested game against Pittsburgh," Franciscovich said. "He logged 23 total touches and found the end zone despite averaging a measly 2.8 yards per carry. Duke Johnson, despite playing 41 snaps, saw just six touches all game. With the bell-cow type workload, it's pretty obvious that the Browns see Hyde as their primary back, and he got the team's only goal-line carry."
Franciscovich has also identified one big-name back who is in grave danger of being phased out, and makes the call on how to handle New England's backfield following the injury to Jeremy Hill.
