It's time for the final major of the PGA Tour season, and it's a special one, with the 2022 Open Championship set to tee off on the Old Course at St. Andrews. Xander Schauffele comes in fresh off his second straight win last week at the Scottish Open. He will face a stacked British Open 2022 field that includes world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, the Masters champion, as well as U.S. Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick and PGA champ Justin Thomas. Also featured in the Open Championship 2022 field are 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, four-time winner Rory McIlroy and defending champ Collin Morikawa.
Caesars Sportsbook lists McIlroy as the 9-1 favorite in its latest 2022 Open Championship odds. Schauffele (14-1), Jon Rahm (14-1), Scheffler (16-1), Jordan Spieth (16-1), Fitzpatrick (18-1) and Thomas (18-1) are all priced as top contenders. Morikawa is in a group at 25-1 in the 2022 Open Championship field, while Woods is a 60-1 long shot.
Before you consider any 2022 Open Championship picks or make any PGA Tour predictions, you HAVE TO see what golf expert Jim Holliman has to say.
Holliman has been a writer and editor for nearly 25 years and has been playing and following the game closely for more than three decades. The Florida-based writer knows what it takes to win on the PGA Tour and how the players' games fit the courses.
Holliman backed Schauffele before last week's Scottish Open, saying "he might have turned the corner with his win at the Travelers." He certainly did, and he went out and proved it with his second straight victory to become one of the top favorites for the 2022 British Open.
The expert also seems to have a knack for finding longshots who can contend. Before the John Deere Classic, Holliman was high on Maverick McNealy (28-1) and Denny McCarthy (25-1) as both posted top-10 finishes. And at the Travelers, Holliman backed Schauffele among his best bets and loved 45-1 Brian Harman, who shot 66 on Sunday to tie for eighth.
At the Charles Schwab, he had both winner Sam Burns (28-1) and Davis Riley (45-1) among his contenders. And before the PGA Championship, he touted Cameron Young, who came in at 65-1 and tied for third. For the Wells Fargo, he backed winner Max Homa (40-1) and runner-up Keegan Bradley (35-1), and even had Stephan Jaeger (125-1) among his contenders as the German tied for sixth. Anyone who has followed Holliman's predictions is WAY UP!
Now, Holliman has released his confident 2022 British Open picks. SHOCKINGLY, the golf expert is fading Rahm, whose demeanor seems to conflict with links golf. The Spaniard tied for third at The Open last year, but his game has been sub-par this year and he comes in off a T-55 at the Scottish Open.
Instead, the golf expert is touting a MASSIVE long shot who comes in at 200-1! This veteran has quietly been playing very well and has the all-around game that will be required to conquer the Old Course. He could pull off a STUNNING victory, and anyone who backs this underdog could cash in HUGE!
