In the peripheral storyline out of Iowa City, OC Brian Ferentz is now at better than 28 ppg and beyond the 25 ppg needed for his contract to revert to its old rollover status. And while the offense won’t be confused with the Kansas City Chiefs, it does have a bit sharper edge with Michigan transfer Cade McNamara at QB. Meanwhile, so far, so good for new Penn State QB Drew Allar, but Phil Parker’s gnarly Hawkeye defense will be by far the toughest stop unit he has faced in his career. Kirk Ferentz also has a long history of success as a dog, and Iowa has allowed more than 14 points just twice (really!) since last season.
