These clubs have played two overtime games in the past month, with each winning on the opponent's home floor. Florida has shown it can get decent looks in its half-court offense against LSU's defense. The Tigers have the superior athletes and they have performed well all season. But Florida, which remains a bubble team, can take a major step forward with a win Friday. The Gators have the motivational edge over an LSU club that has to have some level of distraction amid the uncertainty of suspended coach Will Wade.
This line originally opened with LSU as a 2-point favorite and it moved to 4 likely because people expected LSU's Ja'Vonte Smart to play, and he will. But I don't know that he's worth two points to this line. Particularly when Florida took LSU to OT in Baton Rouge a week ago, and Florida beat LSU in Gainesville earlier this season. For whatever reason, the Gators have given LSU problems this season, and I'll take the four points with the team coming off an easy win against the team that doesn't currently have a coach.
LSU has been just fine since its coach was suspended. The Tigers only beat the Gators by one point last week, but that was on Senior Day at Florida. On a neutral site, we'll see the Tigers team that we expect, the one that's won and covered in five straight.
