John Ross trade odds: Bengals likely to deal former Top-10 pick; Patriots, Eagles and Packers among favorites

Bengals wide receiver John Ross has requested a trade. SportsLine offers odds on a potential destination.

While Bengals receiver and franchise all-time great AJ Green has denied reports he has asked for a trade ahead of the NFL's Nov. 3 Trade Deadline, fellow wideout and former first-round pick John Ross has made it clear he wants out. Cincinnati seems unlikely to deal Green if for no other reason than his massive salary, but Ross, by one metric the league's fastest player, no longer plays much if at all and seems a likely goner. SportsLine has NFL odds on his potential landing spot.

Nearly every NFL Draft expert thought the Bengals reached big-time by taking Ross out of the University of Washington with the No. 9 overall pick in 2017, one spot ahead of where Kansas City traded up to select Patrick Mahomes. Ross was an NFL Combine sensation by running a record 4.22 40-yard dash so the Bengals had to have him.

Ross only had one truly great season at Washington in part due to injuries, and those have followed him to the NFL. He has played in just 27 games with 51 catches for 733 yards and 10 touchdowns. This season, just two catches for 17 yards and no scores. Ross was inactive in Week 3-5 and played just one snap in last Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Clearly, the Bengals don't need or want Ross and they already opted against picking up his fifth-year rookie option. Still, on a contender he could be a difference-maker with that speed and the fact nearly 20 percent of his career catches have been touchdowns. It wouldn't cost but a late-round pick to get him, and Ross would only count about $1 million against a team's salary cap.

How about a return to the Pacific Northwest with Seattle? The Seahawks still don't have a true No. 3 wideout and who knows if Josh Gordon will ever be reinstated. Ross' best NFL game was Week 1 last year in Seattle when he caught seven passes for 158 yards and two scores.

Baltimore has been linked in the past with Gordon and Antonio Brown, and no wide receiver other than Marquise Brown has more than 11 catches. The Ravens make a ton of sense, but I'm not sure the Bengals would trade with a division rival.

The Eagles have been crushed by injuries at receiver and could simply use a healthy body. I can't seem to write one of those stories without mentioning the Patriots because this is the type of low-risk, high-reward move Bill Belichick would make. ESPN's Bill Barnwell projected 13 trades ahead of the deadline and had Ross going to New England for a sixth-round pick.

Green Bay could use a speedy complement to Davante Adams with Allen Lazard out another month or so following core muscle surgery. The Packers' receiving corps lacks speed outside of unreliable Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

How about the New York Giants? They are contending in the sorry NFC East and could use someone opposite Darius Slayton. Chicago's stagnant offense could use a long-distance threat.

If Kansas City trades for Ross and adds him to Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Le'Veon Bell, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman, Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson, well, just give Patrick Mahomes another Super Bowl ring. We won't put it past the Chiefs to do a deal, though. Their offense would appear ideal for Ross.

Cincinnati hosts Cleveland on Sunday with the Browns as 3-point favorites. Will Ross still be around then?
