Dolphins vs. Lions NFL Week 8 injury report, odds: D'Andre Swift, Amon-Ra St. Brown likely to play as Detroit looks to end drought vs. AFC

The Lions are expected to have their two best offensive players for Sunday's game vs. Miami.

The Detroit Lions are winless in their past eight games vs. the AFC (one tie) and will try to end that on Sunday against the visiting Miami Dolphins. The Lions have been horrendous on offense over the past two weeks, but are expected to have top running back D'Andre Swift and No. 1 wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown available. The Dolphins are -3.5 at Caesars Sportsbook.

In their first four games, the Lions were averaging 35.0 points per game with only four turnovers. In the past two, they've scored just 3.0 PPG with seven turnovers. Their six points in the past two games is their fewest in a two-game span since 1993. QB Jared Goff had 11 TD passes and three turnovers the first four games and zero TDs with six giveaways in those two games.

One offshore book offers a prop on the next starting quarterback to lose his job for non-injury reasons and Goff is the +250 favorite ahead of Pittsburgh's Kenny Pickett (+300). Would coach Dan Campbell really turn to journeyman backup Nate Sudfeld?

Swift is a terrific player but just can't stay on the field, limited to 13 games in each of his first two seasons and three so far this year. So far this season, he has 27 rushes for 231 yards and a TD and eight catches for 77 yards and a score. The Lions scored at least 24 points in each game he played before going down with ankle and shoulder injuries.

St. Brown played briefly in last week's loss in Dallas before exiting in the first quarter. Campbell made it clear St. Brown didn't suffer a concussion, but he's still in concussion protocol and expected to be cleared. He has 28 catches for 275 yards and three scores.

There don't appear to be any major injury worries for the Dolphins, who got back starting QB Tua Tagovailoa last week from a concussion and improved to 4-0 this year when he plays, compared to 0-3 when he doesn't. Miami is 17-9 when Tagovailoa starts since 2020 and 6-8 with any other QB. Tua's 8.6 yards per pass attempt lead the NFL.
