Three SEC teams are in real contention for a College Football Playoff berth. But how many spots will be available?

Alabama, Auburn and Georgia are all in the hunt, and as is often not the case in college football, this argument will be settled on the field.

The Iron Bowl often has national championship implications, but for both teams?

The Crimson Tide are unbeaten and ranked No. 1, but a loss on Saturday to the rival Tigers puts them in third place in the SEC. Would the committee put a third-place team in the playoff over potential unbeaten Big Ten or ACC champions?

Auburn has two losses already, but a win over Alabama, followed by another one over Georgia in the SEC title game could give them a spot.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, have the SEC title game berth clinched, but in regards to the playoff, they’re on the outside looking in. That could change, too, with a win over rival Georgia Tech this weekend, and in the SEC championship.

South Carolina, while out of contention, has the opportunity to play major spoiler when it hosts in-state rival Clemson on Saturday night.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulated college football games 10,000 times and came up with final scores and projected player statistics.
