NFC East Division title odds: How many wins will division champion finish with? Six is favored, four is possible

The NFC East has been historically bad through the first 11 weeks this season, but someone has to win it.

It's no longer up for debate on whether the 2020 NFC East is the weakest division in NFL history as all four teams have just three wins each entering Week 12. The Philadelphia Eagles lead the East at 3-6-1 simply because they tied Cincinnati in Week 3 – Coach Doug Pederson played for the tie late in OT – and didn't lose. William Hill Sportsbook lists Philly as the +175 division favorite with Dallas at +240, the New York Giants at +325 and Washington +375. SportsLine oddsmakers also offer odds on how many wins the division champion finishes with.

The worst records belonging to division champions in the 16-game regular-season era were the 2014 Carolina Panthers (7-8-1) and 2010 Seattle Seahawks (7-9) – both actually did win a home playoff game too. Rather unfairly, the 2020 NFC East champion will get a home playoff game, too, while a 10-win Tampa Bay Bucs team, for example, might not.

Needless to say, one of the four NFC East teams would have to win four of its final six to even get to seven victories this year. Dallas and Washington play at AT&T Stadium on Thanksgiving, and the Cowboys have the easiest remaining record of division teams as their opponents have combined for a .367 winning percentage thus far.

Washington has the second-easiest with a combined opponents' winning percentage of .516, followed by the Giants with a number of .525 and Eagles at .567. New York currently has the best in-division record at 3-2 and Dallas the worst at 1-2. Philly and Washington are both 2-2.

The Cowboys are the only NFC East team with all three division foes left on their schedule. The four teams are a combined 4-19-1 in non-divisional games.

John Breech of CBS Sports wrote a story today detailing how its possible all four East Division teams finish with exactly four victories. To kickstart that long-shot chance, Dallas would have to beat Washington on Thursday, New York lose to Joe Burrow-less Cincinnati on Sunday and Philadelphia fall at home on Monday to Seattle. All very possible.
