Cowboys vs. Seahawks Week 3 Vegas spread, betting odds: MVP favorite Russell Wilson can set record with 4 TD passes

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson could set an NFL record in Sunday's game vs. the Cowboys.

One of the most astounding NFL statistics in recent memory is that Seahawks quarterback and future Hall of Famer Russell Wilson has never received a single league MVP vote. That's absurd. Well, Wilson is the new +320 betting favorite to win the 2020 award at William Hill sportsbook, and he could set a league record with a big game at home vs. the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Kickoff is 4:25 p.m. ET with the Seahawks as 5-point favorites on the NFL odds.

Wilson should be the MVP favorite as he leads the NFL by far with nine touchdown passes (no one else has more than six) and a quarterback rating of 140.0 that would shatter the single-season mark. Wilson's 82.5 completion percentage is the highest through the first two games of a season in NFL history (minimum 40 attempts).

Wilson had four TD passes in a Week 1 win in Atlanta and five more in last Sunday night's thrilling victory over New England. He has thrown almost as many touchdown passes as he has incompletions (11). Three other quarterbacks – Patrick Mahomes (2018), Peyton Manning (2013) and Drew Brees (2009) – have had nine TD passes previously through the first two games of a season, but NO ONE has had at least four in each of his team's three games of a season in NFL history.

In his regular-season career, Wilson is 4-1 vs. the Cowboys with 772 passing yards, six touchdowns and two picks for a rating of 89.1 that's one of his worst against any team. Wilson last saw Dallas in the Wild-Card Round of the playoffs following the 2018 season and threw for 223 yards and a TD in the 24-22 loss.

The 2020 Cowboys defense isn't very good right now in part because that unit is missing injured linebackers Leighton Vander Esch and Sean Lee. Dallas is allowing 29.5 points per game and 268.0 passing yards per after facing Jared Goff and Matt Ryan – Ryan had four TD passes last week.

As for the game itself, the Cowboys are looking to end a four-game road skid, albeit losing those by only an average of 5.5 points. Dallas is 0-2 against the spread for the first time since 2010 and trying to avoid its first 0-3 start ATS since 1989.  Seattle is 16-1 SU and 13-4 ATS in its past 17 September home games.
