Baltimore Ravens have become preseason gods under coach John Harbaugh

The Baltimore Ravens put a ridiculous preseason winning streak on the line Thursday night against the visiting Green Bay Packers.

Death, taxes and the Baltimore Ravens winning in the preseason. Those are locks in life – at least for the past few years. Coach John Harbaugh's team looks for its 15th straight exhibition victory on Thursday night when it hosts the Green Bay Packers. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. ET from M&T Bank Stadium and the Ravens are 5-point favorites on the NFL odds. That's the biggest number on the preseason Week 2 board.

Last week, Baltimore trounced the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars 29-0 to win No. 14 in a row. That is the longest for any team in the NFL over the past 25 preseasons. The last time the Ravens lost an exhibition game was on Sept. 3, 2015. They fell 20-19 in Atlanta to finish that preseason at 1-3. Just for a point of comparison, Sept. 3, 2015, was two days before current Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made his NCAA debut with Louisville. Jackson led two scoring drives in three possessions last week against the Jaguars. Baltimore's defense held Jacksonville to 112 yards and eight first downs.

"We like to win," Harbaugh said following the win and the continued postseason success. "The haters out there are going to have their own little snide comments. I think winning is better than losing." Harbaugh is now 34-12 in the preseason all-time.

The head coaching debut for Green Bay's Matt LaFleur was a success last week as the Packers beat the visiting Texans 28-26 despite Aaron Rodgers not playing. It was Green Bay's eighth straight home preseason victory. Not yet clear if Rodgers will play this week, although if so it surely won't be very long. We don't have enough of a background yet on LaFleur to know his feelings about winning or losing preseason games.

Just the second preseason meeting between the Ravens and Packers. In 1996, Green Bay won 17-15 in Baltimore.
