Warriors vs. Magic Thursday NBA injury report, odds: Golden State winless on the road, could rest Klay Thompson

Golden State looks for its first road win of the season Thursday in Orlando.

The Golden State Warriors appear to be suffering from a bit of a post-championship hangover. They are currently one of the worst teams in the Western Conference and are 0-4 on the road. The Warriors are 9-point favorites at Caesars Sportsbook for Thursday's game in Orlando, but they have lost their past four trips there and it's possible Klay Thompson sits out in the opener of a back-to-back.

It's the first time since 2011-12 the Warriors have started a season with an 0-4 road record, and the franchise record for consecutive road losses to open a season is five by the 2002-03 team. The Warriors' last win in Orlando was on Dec. 1, 2017.

Golden State is averaging 124.8 points per game on 48.6% shooting at home this season. On the road, those numbers are 110.3 points and 44.4%. Stephen Curry is averaging 33.2 points at home and 26.8 on the road.

Curry has scored at least 30 points in six of the first eight games of the season, a career first. He also has morphed into Rudy Gobert or something on the boards, averaging 10.0 over his past three games. Curry, the Hornets' Terry Rozier, Mavericks' Luka Doncic and Nuggets' Nikola Jokic are the only players this season leading their teams in scoring, rebounding and assists.

This is the front end of a back-to-back, and the Warriors are being rather cautious with Thompson. He sat our Sunday's loss in Detroit, which was the second of a back-to-back. One would think the Warriors would need Thompson more on Friday when they visit New Orleans.

Orlando has the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 1-7 but has played just two home games and is 1-1 at Amway Center. The Magic remain without the injured Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz, Gary Harris, Jonathan Isaac and Moritz Wagner – and Terrence Ross is questionable after leaving Tuesday's loss in OKC. Orlando led by 11 with 7:26 remaining and was outscored 23-4 the rest of the way.

No. 1 overall pick Paolo Banchero is proving worthy of that selection. He's averaging 21.8 points and 7.6 rebounds, and is the -300 favorite to win Rookie of the Year. Orlando has a good frontcourt with Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr. but the backcourt is a disaster with all those injuries.
