Clippers vs. Hawks injury report, odds, spread: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Patrick Beverley out; Trae Young, Clint Capela will play Tuesday

The Clippers will be missing their two All-Stars on Tuesday in Atlanta, while the Hawks have gotten good injury news on Trae Young and Clint Capela.

The Los Angeles Clippers begin a long road trip Tuesday in Atlanta on a season-high seven-game winning streak, but Los Angeles will be without superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George due to the NBA's health and safety protocols as well as starting point guard Patrick Beverley because of knee soreness. The Hawks, meanwhile, were listing two of their best players, Trae Young and Clint Capela, as questionable because of injury but they will play. Atlanta is a 5-point favorite on the NBA odds at William Hill Sportsbook for the game.

Leonard, George and Beverley all played in Sunday's 108-100 home win over the Thunder. Beverley left early with the injury and George was pulled late reportedly due to a tight hamstring. Leonard (25.9 ppg) and George (23.9 ppg) are the fourth-highest scoring duo in the NBA this season and could miss up to a week, while Beverley is a defensive dynamo.

Reggie Jackson should take Beverley's starting spot but it's not clear who Ty Lue might use for Leonard and George. Marcus Morris could take one of those spots and perhaps Lou Williams the other. Morris missed Sunday's game with an illness, but it wasn't COVID-related and he's not listed on the Tuesday injury report.

Atlanta had a three-game winning streak snapped Sunday in a 129-115 loss in Milwaukee playing without Young (back spasms) and Capela (sore right hand). Rajon Rondo replaced Young in the starting lineup and rookie center Onyeka Okongwu made his first career start in place of Capela.

Young (25.3 ppg, 8.7 apg) and Capela (14.5 ppg, 14.5 rpg) should both start Tuesday according to late word. Over his last five games, Capela is averaging 20.8 points, 17.2 rebounds and 4.4 blocks. In his last two games, he has totaled 45 rebounds and 15 blocks, becoming just the second player since 1973-74 to reach those minimums in a two-game span. The other was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975.

Danilo Gallinari was also listed as questionable with a right ankle sprain but also apparently will go. He missed 10 games earlier with that issue but played the past two. Cam Reddish will sit with right Achilles soreness.

The Hawks and Clippers split last season, each winning at home. L.A. has covered the spread four of its past five trips to Atlanta.
