Updated favorites to sign Ndamukong Suh revealed

SportsLine is offering informational odds on where Ndamukong Suh ends up in 2019.

Ndamukong Suh is one of the best interior defensive linemen of this generation and the 32-year-old is a free agent again this offseason after spending last year with the Los Angeles Rams. Through the first wave of free agency, he hasn't had any takers, but he's still a productive player and there should be an eventual market for his services.

Suh is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and has been named First-Team All-Pro three times. He's got 56 sacks in his nine-year career, and even though he's not as dominant of an interior pass rusher as he once was, he's still a disruptive force who can make teams pay for blocking him one-on-one with a guard or center.

At this point, Suh is still one of the best in the NFL at getting off the ball, stacking and shedding blockers and stopping the run. However, as a short-term solution he might wind up having to wait until after the NFL draft to sign so that teams can address needs long-term.

So let's take a look at who might be interested in signing one of the best defensive tackles in recent memory as SportsLine's oddsmakers offer informational odds on where Suh could be playing at the start of the 2019 season.

Ndamukong Suh team in Week 1 of 2019 regular season

    Seattle Seahawks 3/1
    Los Angeles Chargers 4/1
    San Francisco 49ers 7/1
    Indianapolis Colts 8/1
    New England Patriots 8/1
    New York Jets 8/1
    Oakland Raiders 10/1
    Atlanta Falcons 15/1
    Buffalo Bills 15/1
    New Orleans Saints 18/1
    No team 5/1

The Seahawks have their Russell Wilson extension done now and they just freed up close to $17.2 million in cap space by trading Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs. That leaves them with nearly $26.5 million in estimated cap space which is plenty to get a Suh deal done.

With two first-round draft picks now, they will see what's available to them on the interior defensive line when they go on the clock at the 2019 NFL Draft before making any decisions with Suh. But it's conceivable we'll see them circle back on Suh after the draft.

The Los Angeles Chargers also have a need after losing some defensive linemen in free agency and have about $13 million in estimated cap space. Imagining Suh up front with Melvin Ingram, Joey Bosa and Brandon Mebane is pretty scary.

The San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders are both teams not too far from Suh's home of Portland with plenty of money to spend and they're listed at 7/1 and 10/1 respectively. However, both are rebuilding and even with the 49ers poised to make a jump next season, it might take too long for either to truly contend for a veteran who wants a ring like Suh.

The Indianapolis Colts began the offseason with more cap space than any team in the NFL and they still have more cap space than any team in the NFL. They also made the playoffs last season and have an emerging defense, so if Suh is looking for the best possible blend of getting paid and competing for a title, this might be it.

The New England Patriots would give Suh an incredible shot of chasing that ring but aren't likely to pay full market value for a player like Suh given his history and the fact that they know they're the best game in town for title chasers. That's why they're listed at 8/1.

Looking a little further down the odds board, the New Orleans Saints tried to sign him last year and were a missed call away from the Super Bowl. They have just under $9 million and could potentially get in the mix again this year if Suh is willing to do a team-friendly, NLTBE-incentivized deal. The Saints are listed at 18/1.

Ultimately, Suh can be a bit prickly so locker room fit will also be a key for him. And that's why the Seahawks make a lot of sense now that they've freed up cap space.
