Sacramento Kings forward Marvin Bagley is injured yet again, but how serious is yet unknown

The Kings might be without talented but injury-prone forward Marvin Bagley for the NBA restart.

The Sacramento Kings are longer shots to make the NBA playoffs as it is, currently priced +1000 on the William Hill moneyline odds to earn the Western Conference's No. 8 seed, but their chances will get even longer if the results of an MRI on the right foot of talented but injury-prone power forward Marvin Bagley comes back with bad news. Bagley was injured in practice on Sunday night.

The Kings are tied for ninth in the West with Portland and New Orleans, 3.5 games behind No. 8 Memphis. The Kings franchise clearly blew it by taking Bagley with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Duke. Sacramento should have taken Luka Doncic, who is already one of the league's five best players. He went No. 3 overall to Atlanta but was immediately traded to Dallas.

Bagley is a fine player but brittle. He was limited to 62 games last season as a rookie and just 13 this year due to an injury to his left foot. The 6-foot-11, 235-pounder was averaging 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds. Sacramento already is dealing with an issue in the frontcourt as forward Harrison Barnes has tested positive for the coronavirus and is in Sacramento under COVID-19 protocols.

Alex Len, Jabari Parker and Buddy Hield all tested positive too but are OK now. Point guard De'Aaron Fox sprained his ankle in practice last week and is out. He will be reevaluated soon. The Kings play their first scrimmage in Orlando on Wednesday vs. the Miami Heat and open the eight-game regular-season restart July 31 vs. the Spurs. The Kings are currently -2.5 on the NBA odds.

San Antonio also is in the mix for the No. 8 seed and is +1600 to get it. The Spurs have lost All-Star big man LaMarcus Aldridge for the rest of the season to shoulder surgery and fellow forward Trey Lyles to appendicitis.
