Rams' Cooper Kupp 2023 NFL season odds, props: Pro Bowl receiver will miss time with hamstring injury, should be back Week 1 vs. Seahawks

Rams wideout Cooper Kupp is dealing with a hamstring injury.

The Los Angeles Rams' Cooper Kupp had one of the great seasons for a wideout in NFL history in 2021 as he won the receiving Triple Crown – leading the league in catches, receiving yards and TDs – to earn NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors and even adding Super Bowl MVP thanks to two TD catches, including the later winner, in the win over Cincinnati.  Kupp's 2022 season was cut short due to injury, though, and now he's going to miss at least a few weeks with a hamstring injury -- but is expected back ahead of Week 1 in Seattle.

Coach Sean McVay said he was told Kupp "came up a little bit in a red zone route" during Tuesday's practice before leaving about 30 minutes into the two-hour workout. An MRI late Tuesday apparently showed nothing torn with that hamstring and that Kupp could be back for scrimmages in a few weeks as the team will play it extra cautious. McVay rarely plays his key starters in the preseason regardless.

Kupp had 75 catches for 812 yards and six touchdowns in nine games last season before a high-ankle sprain ended his year. If you extrapolate Kupp's 2022 numbers over 17 games, he would have finished with 142 catches, 1,534 yards and 11 TDs, not too far off his spectacular 2021 numbers of 145 catches (No. 2 in NFL history), 1,947 yards (also No. 2) and 16 TDs.

Remember, the Rams were trash last year -- worst season ever for a defending Super Bowl champion -- and QB Matthew Stafford only played in nine (mediocre) games himself due to injury.

Here are Kupp props at DraftKings (a few may be temporarily off the board due to the injury):

    • To lead NFL in receiving yards: +800
    • To lead NFL in receiving TDs: +550
    • To lead NFL in receptions: +500 favorite
    • To win NFL Offensive Player of the Year (again): +3000
    • To win NFL Comeback Player of the Year: +3000
    • Over/under receiving yards: 1,250.5
    • Over/under receiving TDs: 8.5
    • At least 150 yards receiving in any game: -150
    • At least 100 yards receiving in eight games: +100
    • At least 1,750 receiving yards: +330

Kupp's three-year, $80,100,000 extension with the Rams doesn't kick in until 2024. There has been some speculation that if the Rams get off to another lousy start, which seems likely looking at that roster and the fact LA isn't projected to be favored in a game until Week 6 vs. Arizona, that they may try and trade Kupp, who is 30 and has missed multiple games in four of his six seasons in the league. They reportedly tried to offload Stafford this offseason but couldn't find a taker. Star cornerback Jalen Ramsey was traded to Miami.

As good as Kupp might be, it likely will be tough for him to approach his 2021 numbers this year as he surely will be facing a barrage of double teams considering the Rams' other receivers are a very weak group – although the team is very high on rookie fifth-round pick Puka Nacua.

For Week 1, the Rams are +5.5 in Seattle. The SportsLine Projection Model has Kupp with 5.4 catches for 71 yards and 0.52 TDs in a loss.
