Pittsburgh Steelers-Indianapolis Colts Odds and Picks Against the Spread

The Steelers come off their bye as massive road favorites at Indy. Do the Colts have a matchup edge anywhere?

    PITTSBURGH STEELERS AT INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (+10, O/U 45), Sun., 1 p.m. ET

After a week of R&R, Pittsburgh takes to the friendly skies -- and they have been friendly this season. The Steelers are 4-1 straight-up on the road.

Indianapolis seeks to keep momentum from a win at Houston, but the release of a veteran CB under controversial circumstances might have roiled the Colts’ locker room.

    LINE MOVEMENTS AND TRENDS

The spread hit double-digits after opening just below at 9.5.

The Steelers do well ATS in their travels, having gone 8-3 in the last 11 trips. Oddly, they fare better against opponents with winning records. When being hosted by sub .500-teams, they are 8-24-1 ATS.

Unlike Pittsburgh, 3-8 ATS in November, the Colts pick up the pace when the calendar turns to the month of Thanksgiving. They have covered nine of their past 10 November games.

    BREAKDOWN

It is difficult to find a specific matchup that does not favor Pittsburgh.

RB Le’Veon Bell, refreshed from a week off, can handle another 30-plus carries day. The Steelers are 3-0 when Bell, the most active rusher in the league, shoulders such a heavy workload.

While still-recuperating Colts QB Andrew Luck is out, at least he has dodged the flood of sacks suffered by Jacoby Brissett. Indy has allowed a league-high 36, and Pittsburgh’s defense ranks fourth with 26.

WR Antonio Brown, with NFL bests of 57 receptions and 835 yards, could pad those stats against the No. 31-ranked defense. The Colts’ secondary is relying on rookies and journeymen, and veteran CB Vontae Davis was waived despite his claims that a lingering injury might need surgery.

The key for the Colts is getting WR T.Y. Hilton involved. He has been unstoppable in their three wins but barely noticed in the six defeats.
