One of the worst-kept secrets of the NFL offseason was that, one way or another, C.J. Anderson would be out of Denver before the start of the 2018 season.

After months of reported trade talks, Denver cut bait on Anderson Monday, releasing the 1,000-yard rusher and saving approximately $4.5 on the 2018 cap in the process.

The Broncos will now move towards the NFL Draft with Devontae Booker, a third-year back out of Utah, as its top option in the backfield with Anderson and veteran Jamaal Charles now out of the equation.

And while injuries and inconsistencies kept Anderson from consistently putting up big numbers, he showed enough upside in Denver to catch on quickly with another team either as a potential starter or 1B back.

Anderson is now free to sign where he chooses, and SportsLine's oddsmakers have revealed odds for where he'll play in 2018:

    Indianapolis Colts 4/1
    Green Bay Packers 5/1
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6/1
    New England Patriots 8/1

    Baltimore Ravens 10/1
    Washington Redskins 10/1
    Seattle Seahawks 10/1
    New York Giants 10/1
    The Field 6/1

Pick: The Colts and Packers are at the top of the odds, and for good reason. Both could use an upgrade at running back, and, while Anderson certainly isn't good enough to start a huge bidding way, either team has plenty of cap room to add him at this juncture in free agency.

And while Anderson is just 27, life comes at NFL running backs fast, and he may only have a few more cracks at productive seasons. The Colts would be tempting, but with all the uncertainty about Andrew Luck, back the Packers at 5/1 as the most logical landing spot for Anderson.
