Three for three, baby. We managed to lock in better odds with all of our NFL lookahead picks for Week 9, which wouldn't offer nearly as much value had we waited until now to bet those games. 

Let's start with the most significant one. New Orleans had a lookahead line of -5.5 against Chicago. We surmised that Bears rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent would struggle in his first road start and that the incumbent, injured Justin Fields, appeared unlikely to return soon. Both happened, while the once-shuffling Saints offense maintained its upward arc by dissecting the Colts. The result: a current line of -7.5, a major jump over the key spread of -7.

Another welcome move involved the Cowboys, whose lookahead figure against Philadelphia was +3.5. We suspected the Eagles, in a trap game, would not pull away from Washington. Final score: 38-31, Philly. Frankly, we did not expect Dallas to blast the Rams 43-20. Still, we'll take it. The line has been nudged to +3, meaning that Cowboys backers placing their bets this week would wind up with a push If the Eagles win by a field goal while we head to the ticket  windows.

The movement on our other selection has less impact. We took Arizona at +8.5 against Cleveland, a number that has shifted to +8. The fog surrounding Browns QB Deshaun Watson's condition and availability is the root cause. In reserve, P.J. Walker has proven why he's a backup.

Another factor that influenced us was the possibility that Cardinals QB Kyler Murray would dust off the cobwebs in this Halloween week and make his season debut. That's TBD, but the trade of Joshua Dobbs opens the door for Murray's return.

At the risk of overconfidence coming out of a solid week — and perhaps seduced by several spreads of 2.5 — we offer a bonus pick on top of the usual trio.
