Fantasy Baseball: Three overvalued starting pitchers in Week 9

The 2019 Fantasy baseball season is entering Week 9, and making the right calls this week can be the difference in winning a league or going home with nothing when the playoffs roll around in a few months.

Three overvalued pitchers for Week 9 of the Fantasy baseball season:

SP Trevor Bauer, Cleveland Indians -- Bauer is owned in 98 percent of leagues and is the No. 1 pitcher for Week 9, according to market rank, but the model has him ranked as just the No. 15 pitcher for Week 9. Bauer got rocked by the Baltimore Orioles on May 16, giving up seven earned runs and four walks in five innings of work. It was the the second time in his last three starts he's given up seven earned runs, so despite his strong season-long numbers (4-2, 3.76 ERA), he's a player to consider putting on your bench in Week 9.

SP Jose Berrios, Minnesota Twins -- Berrios is owned in 98 percent of leagues and is the No. 6 starting pitcher, according to market rank. The model, however, is fading him this week, saying he's projected to be the No 24 starting pitcher in terms of total Fantasy points at his position. Berrios gave up 12 hits (two home runs) and five earned runs as he took a loss against the Angels on May 13. He's expected to make just one start in Week 9, so there might be better options available on your roster, or possibly the waiver wire.

SP Carlos Carrasco, Cleveland Indians -- Carrasco is owned in 98 percent of leagues and is a top-10 pitcher for Week 9, according to market value. SportsLine's model has him ranked at No. 27 in Fantasy points for starting pitchers this coming week, however. He picked up back-to-back wins in his last two starts, both against the White Sox, but Fantasy owners shouldn't look too much into that because tougher matchups are ahead, including a projected start against the AL East-leading Rays in Week 9.
