Ezekiel Elliott Not Winning Rookie of the Year Would Be a Monumental Upset

Despite sitting on the sidelines on Sunday against the Eagles with no chance to pad his stats, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is a massive favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

In fact, if Zeke doesn't take home the trophy, it'll be an upset of biblical proportions.

Elliott is a whopping -10,000 to win at BookMaker.eu, which means you'd need to put up $10,000 just to win $100. The rest of the league's rookies (the "Field") are +5,000, or 50/1.

Drafted fourth overall, Elliott took the league by storm. He won the league's rushing title handily with 1,631 yards, 318 more than the second-place finisher, Chicago's Jordan Howard.

Elliott's total was the third-highest ever by a rookie.

Zeke also had 15 rushing TDs, good for third in the NFL.

Elliott was the pre-season favorite for the award at -150 (bet $150 to win $100), but became an underdog after he failed to top 100 yards in the first two weeks.

With the current odds, it's worth looking at the rest of the board to see if any live underdogs stand out. Here are a few who can make strong cases of their own for Rookie of the Year honors:

Dak Prescott (Cowboys): At Bovada, Elliott's teammate Dak Prescott is 10/1 to win Rookie of the Year. The QB filled in admirably for a hobbled Tony Romo, piling up 29 total touchdowns and a 104.9 passer rating, the best rookie mark in NFL history (102.4, Robert Griffin III).

Tyreek Hill (Chiefs): Hill was the first player in NFL history with at least two punt return TDs, two receiving TDs, two rushing TDs, and a punt return score in a season, according to NFL researcher Katie Sharp. On Sunday, Hill had the longest punt return in Chiefs' history (95 yards) as K.C. locked up the AFC's No. 2 seed.

Jordan Howard (Bears): Howard was the second-leading rusher with 1,313 yards. He also scored seven times and topped 100 yards rushing seven times, the same number as Elliott. He was the focal point of the Bears' offense the second half of the season.

Michael Thomas (Saints): Thomas finished ninth in the NFL with 1,137 receiving yards and emerged as a go-to weapon for Drew Brees. The Ohio State product scored nine touchdowns.
