The Washington Commanders rallied for a 29-28 home win on Monday to end the Baltimore Ravens' NFL-record 24-game postseason winning streak, but it may have come at a cost as Commanders Pro Bowl receiver Terry McLaurin suffered a reported turf toe injury and his availability for Week 1 vs. the Cardinals is in question. Washington is currently -6 per SportsLine consensus.

The risk of playing starters in meaningless exhibition games – which more and more coaches are opting not to do – is injury. The Commanders sat almost all of their defensive starters for Monday's game but played their offensive starters, save for a couple, for the entire first half.

McLaurin limped off the field late in the first half and didn't return, although he wasn't expected to play the second half regardless. He was injured on a 13-yard reception from new Commanders starting quarterback Sam Howell with a minute left before the break. McLaurin's foot appeared to bend awkwardly as Ravens linebacker Kristian Welch tackled him. X-rays were negative, but McLaurin will undergo an MRI today with the fear being turf toe.

If it's a Grade 1 turf toe, McLaurin should be fine for the season opener but likely would miss the game if it's Grade 3 – that involves a ligament tear and carries a multi-week recovery timetable. Grade 2 obviously is somewhere in the middle.

McLaurin, a third-round steal in the 2019 draft from Ohio State, enters 2023 with three straight 1,000-yard seasons, including a career-best 1,191 last year on 77 catches to go with five touchdowns despite Washington cycling through QBs. The lone regular-season game he played with Howell as his starting QB was the Week 18 upset of Dallas when McLaurin had three catches for 74 yards and a TD.

He has missed only four games in his career and none the past two seasons. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that early indications are that the injury is "not thought to be overly serious."

Here are the various McLaurin props available at DraftKings:

    • To win Offensive Player of the Year: +7500
    • To lead NFL in receiving yards: +5000
    • To lead NFL in receiving TDs: +5000
    • To lead NFL in receptions: +7500
    • Over/Under 950.5 receiving yards
    • Over/Under 72.5 receptions
    • Over/Under 5.5 receiving TDs
    • To have at least 75 yards in eight games: -110
    • To have at least 150 yards in two games: +350
    • To have 1500 receiving yards: +450
    • To have at least 1500 receiving yards and WSH to win at least seven games: +650

McLaurin's career high for yardage in a game is only 130, which he reached in December of 2019 against the Eagles. He had four 100-yard games in 2022. The 1,500-yard mark on the props listed above is notable, as no Washington wideout has gotten there. The franchise record is 1,483 yards, set by Santana Moss in 2005. QB Joe Theismann in 1983 is the last Washington player to win Offensive Player of the Year.

The SportsLine Projection Model forecasts McLaurin for 3.8 catches for 53 yards and 0.33 TDs in the opener vs. Arizona.
