OK, we know 10th-ranked Auburn is for real.

But how “for real” are the Tigers?

Their one loss was a 14-6 battle at Clemson; no shame in that one.

But their five wins were blowouts against the drastically overmatched. Their three SEC wins are against Missouri, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, teams with a combined one conference victory. Auburn’s other two victories were against Georgia Southern and Mercer.

Auburn will find out much about itself on Saturday, when it plays at LSU.

The home team has certainly had the advantage in this series, winning 15 of the last 17.

CBS SPORTS 130 RANKINGS: GEORGIA CLIMBS TO NO. 3

Speaking of teams with unknown potential, LSU’s resume is full of impressive wins and surprising losses.

These Tigers are coming off a 17-16 win at Florida, and have rolled over the likes of BYU and Syracuse.

But they also lost by 30 to Mississippi State, and were stunned at Troy just two weeks ago.

The difference between losing to Troy and winning at Florida?

''Playing with heart, playing with grit and having some pride about yourself,'' QB Danny Etling said. ''Last week, we lost some pride. There was no energy on the sideline. If you have a lack of energy out there, that starts with the players.

"We wanted to have energy, be upbeat on the sideline, have some fun out there, have each other's back and get a win."

CBS SPORTS: STATE OF TEXAS LOOKING STRONG NOW

Florida, still 3-1 in the SEC, hopes to rebound when it hosts a Texas A&M team that is 2-1 after giving top-ranked Alabama a real challenge last week.
