Just one week separates players from the first major championship of the season. The 2024 Texas Open will once again serve as the appetizer for the main course that is the Masters and welcomes an oddly strong field to TPC San Antonio. With plenty of star players looking for form ahead of Augusta National, the Texas Open could give us some insights into how some of the top names are playing.

They are headlined by world No. 2 Rory McIlroy who has struggled so far this season. Without a top-10 finish on the PGA Tour, McIlroy has battled the left miss with the full swing as well as avoiding the big number. The four-time major champion tees it up at TPC San Antonio for the second time in the last three years with his latest trip resulting in a missed cut before he finished runner up to Scottie Scheffler at the 2022 Masters.

McIlroy is joined in the field by Collin Morikawa, Max Homa and Jordan Spieth, all of whom have been without their best stuff so far in 2024. Hideki Matsuyama hopes to continue his strong stretch of play since winning the Genesis Invitational while Europeans like Ludvig Aberg, Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood aim to to enter the winner's circle and gather momentum before the Masters.
