2024 NFL Divisional Round matchups: Spread projections for every potential pairing prior to the wild-card round

Last week, we ran down my power rating spread projections for every single potential wild-card matchup. In that article, we projected that the Bills would be 10-point favorites against the Steelers if that ended up being the 2-7 matchup. We had the Chiefs as three-point favorites over the Dolphins prior to even more injuries piling up for Miami. The other four weren't nearly as spot-on, but the exercise left me able to jump on sides I knew would be the side with the value as soon as the most advantageous spreads of the week popped up.

Since we received good feedback on the article, we're going to run it back here for every possible divisional round matchup.

This is based on my spread power ratings I maintain throughout the season, making adjustments based around injury and performance. After finding the ratings differential between two teams in a matchup, I apply my unique home-field advantage ratings to crank out a projected spread. The method has helped me get ahead of several mispriced lines and also find where my value differs from the market and potentially jump on the side with value if I'm satisfied in the circumstances surrounding a particular game.

When projecting a rating a week ahead like we're doing here, we have to take into account the implied result of the current week. For example, the Steelers are going to get a pretty solid increase if they're able to beat the Bills. The Bills are unlikely to move in my power ratings at all even if they blow out the Steelers.

With that out of the way, let's get to the divisional-round spread projections for all possible matchups.
