2021 Cotillion Stakes morning-line odds, picks: Racing insider offers bet strategy for Saturday's race

Sharp handicapper and Beyer Speed Figure maker Bob Weir has had multiple five-figure days at the track and crushed the exacta in the Tampa Bay Derby in March for $1,414. Now he targets the Cotillion Stakes 2021 at Parx

Some of the country's top 3-year-old fillies square off on Saturday when the starting gate opens in the 2021 Cotillion Stakes at Parx in Bensalem, Pa. Grade 2 winner Clairiere has two wins, three seconds and two thirds in eight career starts and has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite in the Cotillion Stakes odds.

Before you make any bets, you NEED to see the latest picks from racing insider and Beyer Speed Figure maker Bob Weir.

A two-time qualifier for the prestigious National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas, Weir has produced multiple five-figure days at the track over the years, including a $60,000 Pick 6 at Del Mar in 2014. This year, he has crushed the 3-year-old races. He hit the exacta in the Sam F. Davis Stakes, Tampa Bay Derby and Peter Pan Stakes, the trifecta in the Risen Star Stakes and Blue Grass Stakes and the superfecta in the Belmont Stakes. Those are just some of his scores in 2021.

The Cotillion originally attracted a field of nine, but the field was reduced to eight after the scratch of Private Mission. Her absence is a big one; she was expected to be on or pressing the early lead. Without her in the field, Always Carina is expected to be the controlling speed, but she will be stretching out from the seven-furlong distance, and this will be her first start around two turns.

Army Wife has the tactical speed to lay close early. Meanwhile Clairiere and Maracuja like to come from off the pace and would benefit from a hot pace up front.

Weir has handicapped the Cotillion Stakes 2021 field, made his picks and constructed his bets.

One surprise: Weir is mostly playing against Clairiere, even though she is the 2-1 favorite. "I don't think the turnback in distance helps her in what could be another slow-paced affair," Weir told SportsLine. Weir prefers two horses more than Clairiere.

Instead, Weir's top pick is a horse who "just may have enough talent" to win. He also is high on a double-digit long shot who "fits with this group." Weir is including these horses in his 2021 Cotillion Stakes bets, and so should you. You ABSOLUTELY need to see his picks before locking in any of your own!
