Jonathan Coachman is joined by sports betting experts R.J. White and Larry Hartstein on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for the NFL for Sunday, Oct. 2.

Coach starts things off with the SportsLine Play of the Day: The Buccaneers (-1 at -110) to cover against the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m. ET). "We all know the usual suspects," he says. "We've got (Tom) Brady, we've got (Patrick) Mahomes. We've got Mike Evans coming back today. The way the Chiefs' defense has been playing, we're gonna take the Bucs."

White is up next with a pair of plays. First, he likes the Packers (-9.5 at -110) to cover against the Patriots (4:25 p.m. ET). "Brian Hoyer has lost 11 straight starts dating back to 2016," he says. "I don't know how this New England offense is going to score. Their team total is 14.5. That seems pretty ambitious to me, considering how they've looked.

"I give the Green Bay offense a pass for their tough matchup on the road against an elite rush defense last week. I think they're actually much better than that. And it looks like (Romeo) Doubs is emerging as a reliable weapon for (Aaron) Rodgers. He caught all eight targets last week. The Packers' offensive line is also getting healthy."

R.J.'s second pick is the Ravens (+3 at -105) to cover against the Bills (1 p.m. ET). "Buffalo's offense is coming off from running 90 plays in sweltering conditions," he says. "I don't know if they're going to be in top form anyway because they're back on the road here. Still have severe injury issues all over the team, particularly on defense. … Even with (Josh) Allen's arm, I think a windy, rainy game favors the running games here, which favors Baltimore."

Hartstein wraps things up with a trio of plays. The first is the Cowboys (-3 at -110) to cover against the Commanders (1 p.m. ET). "You look at the Commanders the last two weeks - down 22-0 at halftime, down 24-0 at halftime, getting outgained on a per-play basis by 1.6 yards," he says. "That's almost the worst in the NFL. The Cowboys are plus a half-yard per play to the positive, Cooper Rush with a passer rating over 91, Michael Gallup coming back. But here's the biggest key - the Commanders gave up nine sacks last week, now they have to face Micah Parsons (with) their second- or third-string center. That's not a good situation for the O-line on the road at Dallas."

Larry's second play is Over 18.5 yards as the longest run for Cleveland's Nick Chubb (-110) in the Browns-Falcons game (1 p.m. ET). "He's facing a Falcons defense that has really struggled against the run," he says. "All Chubb has done is gone Over this seven straight games dating to last season, with his long rush being at least 22 yards. He's going to break one or two. He's averaging 5.5 yards a carry against defenses that are better than the Atlanta Falcons in terms of stopping the run."

Hartstein's final play is Over 59.5 rushing yards for Seattle's Rashaad Penny (-110) in the Seahawks-Lions contest (1 p.m. ET). "He averaged 4.7 (yard per carry) last week," he says. "(Minnesota's) Dalvin Cook averaged 5.6 against this same Lions defense. Why? Because they lost their leading tackler. Tracy Walker (Achilles) is out, they have a backup safety in there now. (Walker) was the captain, he was one of the best tacklers in the run game. Rashaad Penny, I think, is going to have a big, big day on the ground. The Lions' run defense is not very good as it is, and then you lose your leading tackler, …"
