Wednesday, December 6 NHL odds, trends: Heaviest prop action on Oilers' Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, Lightning's Nikita Kucherov

Here are the most-wagered NHL props Wednesday at DraftKings.

Wednesday's NHL action will have a lot to live up to, as Tuesday marked only the seventh day in league history to feature multiple three-goal, third-period comeback wins (courtesy of the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks). The only other instance in the past 12 seasons was on Nov. 26, 2022. Here's a look the player props taking the most action at DraftKings on Wednesday's four-game slate, to no surprise headlined by Edmonton Oilers superstar and reigning Hart Trophy winner Connor McDavid.

McDavid was a massive favorite entering the season to win a fourth career Hart Trophy, which would have put him in exclusive company with Eddie Shore (four), Gordie Howe (six) and Wayne Gretzky (nine). Yet McDavid got off to a very poor start by his standards. The Oilers struggled as a whole, but have been a markedly different team and McDavid a different player since head coach Jay Woodcroft was fired.

Since the hiring of Kris Knoblauch, one of McDavid's junior coaches, to replace Woodcroft, Edmonton is 6-3 and enters Wednesday's late game vs. Carolina on a four-game winning streak. For some reason, the Oilers haven't played since last Thursday's game in Winnipeg, in which McDavid set up Leon Draisaitl's go-ahead goal with 2:13 left in the game. That extended McDavid's points streak to six games. He has he has four goals and 12 assists in that span. Those are more than half his 29 points this season (eight goals, 21 assists).

The most-wagered anytime goalscorer prop is McDavid at +125 vs. the Hurricanes, while the same on the points market is McDavid Over 1.5 points at +114. He is now a +450 co-favorite with Boston's David Pastrnak, incidentally, to win the Hart Trophy.

Draisaitl is also taking strong action as a +135 anytime goalscorer, Over 2.5 shots on goal (-115) and Over 0.5 points (-245). He has at least one point in five of the past six games, a goal in three of the past four and at least three shots in three of the past four.

On Nov. 22, Edmonton lost 6-3 at Carolina with both McDavid and Draisaitl (two shots on goal) having a single assist. As an aside, if you want to bet the Oilers to beat Carolina: Since the start of last season, NHL teams are 26-16-6 overall when having five or more days off in between games.

Another former Hart Trophy winner, Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov, is taking big action at +100 as an anytime goalscorer vs. Pittsburgh and the most action of any player on the shots prop at Over 4.5 (+105). Kucherov is on a 10-game points streak (yet not in the top five on points props) with five goals and 14 assists in that stretch.

Kucherov, the leading scorer in the NHL with 42 points overall, has at least an assist in every game during his point streak and has a chance to establish a franchise record for longest assist streak. Yet he's not among the top five on the assists market, either.
