The White Sox are 3-19 and averaging 1.96 runs per game. In their 22 games, they've lost 14 but at least two runs, so playing the run line against them has been very fruitful. We'll continue that here. Pablo Lopez is on the hill for the Twins and he dominating a great Orioles offense last time. He'll feast on this White Sox group. The Twins' offense has been awful, but scored seven last night, so maybe they can shake things loose against the Sox. Erick Fedde, the White Sox starter, has decent surface-level numbers, but his peripherals say he's due a regression. This one shouldn't be close.
Fedde (1-0, 3.10 ERA) has been pretty solid for the White Sox, a rare bright spot, and gone at least five in three straight. He'll surely be traded this summer if this continues. Chicago only got 3.2 innings from yesterday's starter so it needs some bullpen relief. Just a few Twins have ever faced Fedde. In theory, that only helps his cause.
Why mess up a good thing? Going against the Chisox has been good business, with the Pale Hose getting outscored 31-7 across their last four games, all losses by four runs or more. At 3-19, it's the worst start in franchise history, and as we need any more go-against evidence, no MLB team since 1901 has been shut out in eight of the first 22 games as have the Sox. Tremendous pressure on starting pitchers like Erick Fedde to keep the other team off the scoreboard, which is proving mostly futile. After Twins starter Chris Paddack looked like Cy Young material against Chisox batters on Monday, Pablo Lopez gets to enjoy the opportunity tonight. Play Twins on Run Line
Neither of these teams can score runs, and I'm not fading the Pae Hose as much as usual because of the Twins offensive woes, but Pablo Lopez should look like a Cy Young candidate vs this lineup. Eloy Jimenez is the only Sox who has decent numbers against him and the Twins just need to scratch out a few for us. I expect Rocco Baldelli to manage this like the World Series, because of MIN is gonna get off the mat it needs to start here.
