I love the value on the Bears as a primetime, home underdog. Mitchell Trubisky is an upgrade at QB despite never starting a game in the NFL. The Vikings will miss Dalvin Cook tonight on the road. Take the points with the Bears.
Mitchell Trubisky could have used a less imposing defense against which to introduce himself to the league. Of course, the Vikings might score even less now that their impactful rookie, RB Dalvin Cook (ACL), is out. But the Minnesota defense can create points and, if QB Sam Bradford (knee) returns, the absence of Cook will be mitigated. The Vikings are on a 9-2 ATS run against opponents below .500.
Rookie QB Mitchell Trubisky makes his debut against one of the best defenses in the NFC. Now, the Bears are one of the best rushing teams in the league and can make it easier for him to have success. But, this is a tough first matchup for any rookie QB.
The Bears shouldn't be getting three points in this matchup at home, where they've went toe to toe with two far superior teams earlier this season. The Bears predictably made a switch at QB, and the rookie should give the offense a boost, but he won't have to do too much with the running game likely to dominate this matchup, as it did when the Bears beat the Vikings at home last year 20-10. The Vikings have a solid passing attack, but it hasn't played as well on the road, and they even struggled to move the ball at home last week against the Lions. Dalvin Cook's injury is also a huge loss for this offense.
The Bears are going with their rookie QB, and it's about time. He can't be worse than the Mike Glennon turnover machine. The Vikings really missed Dalvin Cook against the Lions after he got injured. They went from explosive to pedestrian at running back. Minnesota has lost eight of its past nine trips to Soldier Field, with the lone win coming by 3 points in 2015. Back Chicago, which had extra rest after playing Thursday night in Week 4, to stay perfect against the spread at home this year.
