In this pivotal AFC game, the biggest matchup will be the Chiefs' linebackers and secondary versus the Steelers' quick-strike passing game. Outside of Antonio Brown, the Steelers' passing game is a bit underwhelming. They will be getting back RB Le'Veon Bell, which is a huge boost. But the Chiefs' defense is similar in style and aggressiveness to what Pittsburgh saw last week at Philadelphia. Take the points.
I’m going to fade the steam on the Chiefs here and take the Steelers to bounce back from their dismal performance in last week’s blowout loss to the Eagles. The sentiment behind Kansas City is that it runs a system similar to that of Philadelphia, because Eagles coach Doug Pederson is a protégé of Andy Reid, and the Steelers will again struggle. But Kansas City lacks the same firepower in the passing game, and Pittsburgh’s running game should be enhanced by the return of Le’Veon Bell against a suspect run defense. Take Pittsburgh to get back on track Sunday night.
Le'Veon Bell's return is undoubtedly a huge boost to Pittsburgh's offense, but at the same time the Steelers won't have a defensive leader Sunday night. MLB Ryan Shazier (20 tackles, INT, forced fumble, two passes defended) won't play due to a knee injury. Shazier is one of several key Steelers who will miss the game. Top K.C. corner Marcus Peters (illness) was a full-go in Friday's practice and will help keep Antonio Brown from exploding. Grab the points.
The Chiefs' defense isn't going to force eight turnovers every week, but it's a great unit nonetheless. After an ugly first half against the Chargers, it has surrendered just one TD in the last 10 quarters. Kansas City has DVOA's top-ranked pass defense, and is also doing the best job in the league against opposing No. 1 receivers. The Chiefs' offense has been inconsistent, but there's reason to be optimistic after Andy Reid disciple Doug Pederson just carved up the Pittsburgh defense. Le'Veon Bell's return helps Pittsburgh, but the Chiefs are good enough to stay close regardless.
