Boston does this…win game 1 lose game 2 then roll in 3 and 4. Take the Celts
Boston won game three at Cleveland thanks to solid overall defense. As a team Boston limited Cleveland to just ninety three points. Offensively, the Celtics still have a ways to go to be the team we saw in the regular season. A player that needs to get back to his nightly consistent play is Derrick White. Look for White to get his shot back to an extent tonight, and get over his points prop.
Going back to the proverbial well with fading Derrick White's RA line. He has only eclipsed this line in one playoff game this season and has been held under in 25 of his last 28 playoff games dating back to last season. I expect a paced down game with minimal possessions which should provide a low scoring environment that isnt conducive to high RA totals.
In game three we saw the Celtics offense run through their two stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. That led to a combined sixty one points scored out of the Celtics 106 total points. After a quiet game three look for Payton Pritchard to get back in the scoring column as he did in games one and two of this series. The shots are there and with Derrick White struggling Pritchard may need to be more aggressive. Take his combination prop over in game four.
Cleveland scored 118 points in their game two victory. However, they’ve failed to score 99 points in games one and three. In their first series against the Magic, the Cavaliers failed to score 99 points in five of seven games, only averaging 95.9 throughout. Boston has been holding their opponents to 88 points on the road in the postseason.
Raise your hand if you've seen this before...the Celtics look great in Game One, bad in Game Two, and roll to a Game Three win on the road. That was the preceding series vs. Miami and it's been this series thus far vs. Cleveland, with not only the results sequencing the same, but the manner of the results. Mostly, it's been down to the defense, which has allowed the Heat and Cavs to crack the century mark just twice in the eight games between them this postseason. We already know Boston has enough offense with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White & Co. Also note the Celtics have won and covered five straight in the playoffs back to last May. History repeating itself? Play Celtics
Boston had the letdown game in the second contest in both series, then Tatum got a little angry and they started to outclass a lesser opponent on the road. The Cavs are way too reliant on Donvan Mitchell, they really miss Jarrett Allen and the Celtics will beat them again behind the arc and draw fouls in the paint. Boston doesn't play a ton of close games and they tend to win by double digits and the Cavs will continue to fall behind by 9+ points (every game so far) and struggle to keep things close as the series unfolds
