The A's have won six straight and eight of their last nine to make them .500 for the season at 17-17. The A's have taken all the early season negatives and made a positive becoming a functioning club. They have the number three bullpen in baseball, basically no one scores once they come in, or at least lately, sporting a 2.65 ERA. The Marlins are 9-26 and they don't give a damn. They just traded their best player after a three-game win streak. That is Management telling the players good luck. Let's see the A's get over .500 today. A's win.
Miami lost their best hitter in Luis Arraez to the Padres. They’re struggling offensively, hitting .216 with a .597 OPS on the road this season. They also have a very low walk rate against righties. Jake Boyle has good velocity on his fastball and is backed by an offense hitting .294 with a .959 OPS over the last seven days.
This is a big number for Joe Boyle in what is certainly a difficult matchup against a Marlins lineup that possesses the 4th lowest K rate in the league. Boyle has some electric stuff but has only gone more than 5 IP in one of his six starts this season. Considering his outs line is 15.5 and heavily juiced to the under, I think 6 Ks is a tall order versus this stingy Miami lineup.
So the Marlins are terrible in every facet as we know at 9-26 and their worst starter is on the mound vs a lineup that is on fire. Sanchez should be an opener at best but the Fish's stink pen is in tatters after giving up 20 runs Sat night after a long rain delay. So starter has no length and hard to get fresh bodies from Jacksonville (AAA) to Oakland. A's are cruising and playing with confidence with an elite pen. Back to .500 and have played good teams very tough and will thrash Fish again here. Sanchez allowed 8 ER in last 2 starts (6 2/3 IP). I like the A's to complete the sweep with runs to spare
