This would be a crazy thought earlier in the season, but Wake Forest and Louisville are evenly matched ... well, except for Lamar Jackson. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner, who is once again having a tremendous season, should have himself a day against the Demon Deacons. Jackson only threw for 145 yards and a touchdown a season ago against Wake, but he averaged 7.0 yards per carry in the game, rushing for 153 yards in a 44-12 win. The game is going to be way closer this year, but the Cardinals should prevail by more than a field goal.
Wake Forest has dropped three straight and has looked lackluster offensively for four consecutive games. Still, this is a spot in which Wake Forest can hang around with its underrated defense. Grab the Demon Deacons to get their first ACC win since Week 2.
Thank you, public, for taking a logical line of minus-6 and shrinking it in half. While the Cardinals have been wildly inconsistent this season, their offense is dy-no-mite. QB Lamar Jackson would be a strong Heisman Trophy candidate had he not won it last year and were the Cards’ record better than 5-3. The ‘Ville is subject to a mild letdown after a draining win at Florida State. Yet the Deacons could be in the dumps after dropping three in a row straight-up against a gauntlet of ACC foes -- FSU, Clemson and Georgia Tech. They won’t come up for air in a while. Next week: at Notre Dame.
